Funeral services for Mr. Lampton M. “L.M.” Davis Jr. 87, were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, from the chapel of Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home with the Rev. Justin Knight and the Rev. Buddy Day officiating. Burial was in the New Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Davis passed away at his residence in Tylertown, Miss., on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born Nov. 30, 1929 in Tylertown, the son of the late Lampton and Ruth Thomas Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandchild.

He was a member of Tylertown Baptist Church. He had worked in management for JCPenney department store and loved to fish.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Terrell Davis; daughter, Fern Thomson; son, Ansel L. Davis; brother, Jimmy D. Davis; sister, Dennie Wisneski; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were Andy Davis, Adam Davis, Steve Davis, Ricky Davis, Kent Davis, Keith Davis, Kenneth Thomson and Dylan Davies.

Visitation was at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Sunday, March 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Zion Cemetery Fund, c/o Stacey Fortenberry at Citizens Bank or to Tylertown Baptist Church.
