Billy Wayne ‘Bill’ Jenkins

Billy Wayne “Bill” Jenkins, 75, a resident of Pekin, Ill., passed away at 3:18 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Pekin Manor.

He was born July 21, 1941 in Franklinton, to the late Zelimer “Bud” Jenkins and Lurleane Hunt Jenkins. Bill was a 1959 graduate of Zachary High School and later graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1983. He attended the LSU Fire School and became a certified firefighting instructor.

While living in Franklinton, Bill was the dispatcher for the local fire department. He was an animal lover that enjoyed playing fantasy baseball and reading. Bill was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and LSU Tigers football and baseball teams. He had resided, alongside his wife, in Illinois for the previous 17 years and had a special place in his heart for his pet cat Miss Kitty and dog Pepe.

He is survived by: his wife, Judith Kay Kaldi Jenkins of Pekin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joni Jenkins Truxillo and David Truxillo of New Orleans, Stacy Jenkins Ashton and Thomas Ashton of Baton Rouge; two stepsons and spouses, Mark and Michelle Valentine of Marquette Heights, Ill., Brian and Amy Valentine of Pekin; four grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Larry and Kathy Jenkins of Franklinton; nephew and spouse, Blaine and Carolyn Jenkins.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, from noon until 2 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton (1109 Bene St.). A memorial service will be held following the visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
