Wilbur ‘Billy’ Ray Nobles

Our sweet husband, dad, pawpaw and friend, Wilbur “Billy” Ray Nobles, joined our Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 4, at 2:45p.m., at 93 years of age.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Myrtle Virginia Crowe Nobles, and his only daughter, Barbara Nobles Chauvin. His greatest joys were his three grandchildren, Jerome Chauvin, Kim Spillers, Lesa Courville, and their spouses. He also had 11 great-grandchildren, Erin, Kaitlyn, Victoria, Keith, Jessica, Stephanie, Vanessa, Bradley, Priscilla, Hayleigh, and Bella.

Pallbearers were Jerome Chauvin, Mike Spillers, Matt Courville, Keith Wall, Michael Hall, and John Douglas. The honorary pallbearer was Bradley Pickering.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Nolan Roark, and his grandparents, George and Hattie Nolan.

He retired from Crown Zellabach Papermill after 37 faithful years. As a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, he also served in World War II. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Bogalusa since he was 18 years old. During his retired years, he served as the Masonic chaplain and secretary. He was also an original member of Westside Baptist Church of Bogalusa.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, March 6, from 1 p.m. until the service time of 3 p.m. The Rev. David Womack officiated.

Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery with military graveside service by the Magic City American Legion Post #24.
