Darcie A. Harris

Darcie A. Harris was born on Jan. 30, 1961, in Flint, Mich. She was the fifth child of Robert F. Coverdill and Nancy L. Coverdill. She began her formal education in the Flint School System. After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Oakland Community College in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., in 2003, where she obtained an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Development. She relocated to Bogalusa in 2004 with her loving husband. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age.
Darcie met her husband Walter in 1996, and married the love of her life in 2004. She was an active and faithful member of Bogalusa Church of Christ. She also was a member of the Professional Women’s Service Club and the Bidding Buddies.
Darcie began her career with GDIT in September 2013 as a regular full time CSR. She was promoted to Acting Trainer for 2014’s OY2 and again for 2015’s OY3. She was promoted to Training Coordinator for 2016’s OY4. She was an integral part of the team and helped to make Bogalusa’s OY4 a successful one.
Darcie was preceded in death by her brother Scott Coverdill and her sister Vickie Foust (Al).
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted husband, Walter L. Harris; her father, Robert F. Coverdill and mother, Nancy L. Coverdill of Cass City, Mich.; brothers, Bert Coverdill (Deborah) of Deckerville, Mich., Robert F. Coverdill Jr. (Roberta) of Deford, Mich.; sisters, Mickie Briant (Ralph) of Webberville, Mich., Norma Adams of Cass City; daughters, Misty M. McClung (Kevin), Lorie L. Root, both of Olive Branch, Miss., Lisa S. Walker (Nkosi) of Springfield, Ohio, Rosemary Jackson (Richard) of Pontiac, Mich., Mya Harris of Bogalusa; son, Demetrius Harris (Victoria) of Toledo, Ohio; brother-in-Law, Eddie Bruce Moses (Tanya) and sister-in-law Virgie Moses (Coleman, deceased); and eight grandchildren.
