Bennie Holmes

Mr. Bennie Beral Holmes passed away Feb. 15, 2017, at his home in Angie after a long battle with cancer.

Bennie was loved by his family and friends. He was always busy helping anyone who needed help. Visiting and drinking coffee with his neighbors was one of his favorite things to do. He was a favorite presence at the Angie Senior Citizen Program. He made sure everyone was made to feel welcome at the daily lunch meal. He was also an avid LSU football and baseball fan.

On Sunday, he enjoyed walking to church with his wife, Charline. His humble spirit and sweet smile will be missed by the members of Angie Baptist Church.

His giving spirit was further exemplified by the donation of his body to LSU Medical School for the study of coronary artery disease and cancer.

Bennie was born Feb. 22, 1941, and passed away within seven days of his 76th birthday.

He is survived by his wife, Charline Pope Holmes; two sons, Bennie Brian Holmes of Minneapolis, Minn., and James Lee Holmes of Angie; one brother, Warren Holmes of West Helena, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Holmes and Velma Keen Holmes; a stepfather, Joe Haley; and sister, Levonne Hendricks; and two brothers, Jeral Holmes and David Holmes.

His memory will be celebrated with memorial service at Angie Baptist Church on Friday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. until time for the service at 3 p.m. conducted by Bro. Larry Mizell.
