Funeral services for Mrs. Delores Bass, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Dexter Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Jerry Terrell officiating. Burial will be in Gay Cemetery in Pine.
Mrs. Bass passed away at the Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. She was born Sept. 3, 1944 in Tylertown, Miss., to the late Chess Ameal and Gladys Rogers McNeese. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Quitman Bass; son, Donald Meaux; and brother, Michael McNeese.
She was a member of Crain’s Creek Baptist Church but loved to attend church with her children when visiting them. She was a homemaker who loved working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by them.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha (Timothy) Cox, Cindy (Alan) Brewer, Cheryl Meaux, and Dianne (Phillip) Slocum; son, Darrell (Rachel) Meaux; brothers, William McNeese, Chess McNeese Jr., Bruce McNeese, and Lavell McNeese; sisters, Laura Penton (Jim) Rutland, Shirley Jones, and Veda Lewis; 37 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Laydell Slocum, Dustin Slocum, Jeremy Smith, D.J. Meaux, Jeffrey Smith and Darrell Meaux. Alternate pallbearers will be Joshua Lott and Robbie Penton.
Visitation will be at Dexter Pentecostal Church on Friday, Feb. 10, beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing until service time there at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
