Bogalusa Police Chief Kendall Bullen said his officers recently arrested a 16-year-old juvenile, after he confessed to breaking into an automobile early Sunday morning.

Bullen said that a citizen called in a tip to the BPD at about 2 a.m. Sunday, after the citizen noticed a juvenile in a hooded sweatshirt rummaging through a vehicle on Derbigney Street.

“Two of my officers, Capt. Wendell O’Berry and Patrolman Alec Ceasar, got the call and located (the suspect) on Bayer Street,” Bullen said.

Bullen said that officers noticed the juvenile suspect drop some items on the ground, and they were the same items that had been reported stolen from the vehicle.

Bullen said that the juvenile’s guardian was contacted, and the juvenile was advised of his rights in the presence of that guardian. At that point, the juvenile confessed to breaking into the car and stealing the items, Bullen said.

The juvenile, who is not being identified due to his age, was charged with vehicle burglary and a curfew violation.
