Doris Tynes

Doris Tynes, 87, a resident of the Stateline community, died just before midnight, Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital.

She was a former LPN for over 20 years at Riverside Medical Center and later at the Southeast Louisiana Hospital. Doris was a longtime member of Stateline Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano for many years. She loved traveling on vacation, including annual trips with friends to Gatlinburg and many cruises through the years. She also enjoyed working in her yard, tending her flowers and watching the many birds that visited her property.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Richard Wilson of the Stateline community; four grandchildren, Cammie Crain, Cassie Jenkins, Tom Seal and Miranda Dunshee; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Loyd Tynes of Apopka, Fla.; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Seal; a son, Thomas Reed Seal; parents, Thomas E. Tynes and Ardella Crain Tynes; grandson, Matthew Ryan Dunshee; a sister, Lorena Crain; brother, Melvin Tynes; and an infant brother.

Visitation was at Stateline Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, Feb. 6, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation continued at the church Tuesday, Feb. 7, after 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m., with Elder Donnie Broom officiating. Burial followed in the Crain Cemetery at Stateline.

The family wishes to send a sincere thank you to Sue Crain for the loving kindness she has shown through the years, and to the nurses and staff of Resthaven Living Center for their care and support.

Pallbearers were James Gowens, Kyle Sharbaugh, Joseph Crain, Scott Ard, John Fortenberry and Tom Seal.
