On Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at 4:30 p.m., an angel of the Lord came to the Louisiana Heart Hospital and took Floyd Joseph Ordoyne Jr. to his heavenly home at the age of 54.

He was a resident of Mt. Hermon and a proud former veteran of the U. S. Army and the U. S. Navy. Floyd served on the U.S.S. Nimitz during Operation Desert Storm. He was an active member of the Brockdale Apostolic Church near Tylertown, Miss., and he will be missed greatly by his beloved church family.

“Today the journey has ended. I have worked out the mandates of faith. Naked, alone, undefined, I knocked at the uttermost gate. Behind is life and its trials, its sorrow. Beyond is the infinite morning of a day without tomorrow. Farewell, the maze has been threaded. This is the end of stride. Say not that death should be dreaded, but the beginning of life.” — Wenonah Abbot

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Tracey Woodward Ordoyne of Mt. Hermon; a son and daughter, Brandon Ordoyne and Brittani Ordoyne Ballou, both of Washington state; a brother, Troy Ordoyne of Franklinton; a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle Ordoyne Ferguson and Randy Ferguson of Franklinton; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Mary Woodward of Franklinton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shanna and Billy Brooks I, of Pine, Jamie Woodward and Danny Woodward, both of Franklinton, and Melissa Lecompte of Bogalusa; nieces and nephews that were also his godchildren, Ariel Brooks, Whitney Brooks, Billy Brooks II and Kenneth Brooks; and nephews and nieces, Johnny Hill Jr., Destiny Ordoyne, Gavin Lecompte, Skylar Ordoyne, Hunter Ordoyne, Lexie Ordoyne, Lauren Ordoyne, Mason Regions, Kaitlyn Woodward, Creighton Woodward and Caiden Woodward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd J. Ordoyne Sr. and Marlene Theriot Ordoyne; a brother, Brian Ordoyne; and a nephew, Trey Ordoyne.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 3, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Raymond Garcia, the Rev. Rick Elder and Randall Garcia officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Brooks I, Danny Woodward, Johnny Hihll Jr., Gavin Lecompte, Skylar Ordoyne, Keith Polkey, Hunter Ordoyne and Dwayne Blanchard. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Bordlee, John Crouch and those he served with on the U.S.S. Nimitz.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to assist them with final expenses.
