Dudley James Cooper, 85, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Rest Haven Living Center in Bogalusa.

He was born in Bogalusa on July 5, 1931. He was a carpenter for over 25 years. Dudley and Margaret owned and operated Coop’s for over 24 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Cooper of Bogalusa, and Derinda Hughes (Toby) of Folsom; one son, Jackie Cooper (Denise) of Bogalusa; his grandchildren, Adam Hughes (Erin), Jennifer Rodgers (Noah), Brittany McGilvray (Alex), Josh Miley and Leah; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Corkern Cooper; his parents, James C. Cooper and Eunice B. Cooper; his sister, Betty Cooper; and an infant brother, Cecil Cooper.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 3, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Toby Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
