Sue Pace Kennedy

Sue Pace Kennedy, 88, of Angie, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Rest Haven Living Center.

She was a loyal wife, loving mother and grandmother over the course of 69 years of marriage. She was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi where she earned a degree in business and elementary education. She retired from the Washington Parish School System in 1979 after devoting 25 years to students in the Angie and Varnado communities. She was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Angie Baptist Church. She loved gardening and shared her passion for native flowers with her children and grandchildren. She shared her knowledge through her membership in the Angie Garden Club.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Hershel Kennedy of Angie; one son, and two daughters, Reggie and Melanie Kennedy of Angie, Rhonda and Tony Polk of Columbia, Miss., and Rhoda Kristie Kennedy Genova of Bentonville, Ark. She is a nurturing and loving aunt to two nephews and one niece, Danny Cibic, Billy Leggett, and Jackie Pace; and is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Polk, Jake Kennedy (wife Kelli), Jed Kennedy (wife Madison), Andy Polk (wife Ramie), Rachel Kennedy Powell (husband Mike), Mary Elizabeth Genova, Anna Claire Genova, and Theresa Polk Roberts (husband Michael); great-grandchildren, Ethan Henry Kennedy, Josiah Jacob Kennedy, James Allan Powell, Kennedy Elizabeth Powell, and Cecile Ruth Powell; one sister, Mavon Pace Kennedy; and 36 nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Carl Pace and Rhoda Gerald Pace; three brothers, Virgil Lee “Buck” Pace, Vester Eli Pace and Huey Lavon “Man” Pace; and four sisters, Mavis Pace Gould, Masel Pace Williams, Mevoline Pace Cibic, and Marion Pace Fornea.

Visitation will be held at Angie Baptist Church, located at 64458 Royal St. in Angie, on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Mizell officiating. Interment will follow at Henry J. Kennedy Family Cemetery on Keaton Road.
