A man and woman living in a camper trailer at the intersection of Jim Edwards Road and Peterson Road in Mt. Hermon were arrested Tuesday by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, according to Chief Haley of the WPSO. They were ultimately charged with drug distribution-related crimes.

Haley said that Drug Task Force detectives, who were acting on information from a concerned citizen, set up surveillance on the camper trailer, which had a Mississippi license plate. After a period of time, detectives observed a man and woman exit the camper trailer, get into a SUV and travel down Jim Edwards Road in the direction of Highway 1056, Haley said.

Detectives followed and observed the driver of the vehicle commit traffic offenses. The vehicle was pulled over and detectives encountered the driver, Rachel Rebecca Boucher, 37, and the passenger, Micheal Perry, 42, both staying at the Jim Edwards Road location.

After advising the driver why she was being pulled over, a detective asked Perry for identification and he was unable to provide any, Haley said. Perry was instructed to exit the vehicle, at which time the detective began to search him and recovered a knife and a cigarette pack containing several marijuana roach cigarettes and a small amount of methamphetamine.

Haley said the detective then conducted a search of the vehicle in the area where Perry was sitting, and discovered a small flashlight that contained morphine pills and more bags of methamphetamine. Perry was placed under arrest.

At that time, detectives advised Boucher that she, too, was under arrest and then searched more of the vehicle, Haley said. They discovered another flashlight containing additional bags of methamphetamine and a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue in the driver’s side door pocket.

Based on the discovery of drugs in the vehicle, detectives obtained a search warrant from a 22nd Judicial District Judge for the camper trailer located at 24257 Jim Edwards Road. Inside the camper trailer, detectives discovered a plastic container with additional methamphetamine, digital scales, needles and baggies matching the type found in the vehicle, Haley said.

Boucher and Perry were transported to the Washington Parish Jail for booking. During the booking process, Perry became verbally and physically belligerent and had to be physically restrained, Haley said.

Perry remains in the Washington Parish Jail with no bond. He is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession of marijuana, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of resisting arrest by providing false booking information and one count of resisting an officer. He remains in jail with his bond set at $102,000.

Boucher remains in the Washington Parish Jail with bond set at $100,750. She is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of driving left of center. She is also charged with being a fugitive from Pike County, Miss.

Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said he was pleased with the arrests.

“I am sick and tired of drug dealers operating in Washington Parish and I am so pleased our fine detectives were able to put these two in jail,” Seal said. “Mt. Hermon is a peaceful community and residents there do not deserve to have drug dealers living in their midst. I promised the people of Washington Parish that we will go after drug dealers and that is exactly what we are doing now and will be doing in days to come. Be assured, more arrests are coming.”
