Mildred Carroll Hillhouse, 86, a native of Varnado, passed away at Resthaven Living Center after a lengthy illness.

She is survived by three children, Joseph Dow Hillhouse Jr. (Bianca), Carol Hillhouse Jordan, and Mark Hillhouse (Angela); seven grandchildren, Matt, Adam, Lauren, and Aaron Hillhouse, Heather Hillhouse Melancon, Amber Hillhouse Talley, and Dr. Jenna Jordan; eight great-grandchildren, Mark III, Connor, Colby, Raegan, and Jax Hillhouse, Aubrie, and Sutton Melancon, and Daylan Talley; three sisters, Nell Carroll Gerald, Geraldine Carroll Boone, and Brenda Carroll Ard of Bossier City; and one brother, Ed Carroll.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dow Hillhouse; her mother, Esma Sheridan Carroll; her father, James Quincy Carroll; and one brother, Sidney Carroll.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Chad Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Seal Cemetery at a later date.
