At the age of 62, Roy Milton “Head” Burton was called from Earth to his eternal home. On Jan. 10, 2017, he transitioned peacefully at Lakeview Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.

Roy Milton Burton was born Dec. 5, 1954, to the late Milton (Sug) Burton, and Jerry Lee Brown Burton. On April 11, 1981, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Janet Ruth Morris Burton, and to this union, five children were born.

Brother Roy leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Janet Ruth Morris Burton of 35 years; five children, Roy (Kasey) Burton Jr. of Franklinton, Laddrie (Erica) Morris of Monroe, Tranikka (Preston) Murray of Bogalusa, Jerry Lynn Burton of Franklinton, and Amanda (Roosevelt) Brumfield of Kentwood; two grandsons he raised, Treyvion and Kentrall Burton; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Billy (Betty) Burton, Michell Burton, Frank Burton, Gary (Doris) Burton and Jessie Burton, all of Franklinton, William Burton of New Orleans, and Kenneth (Paula) Burton of Washington; two sisters, Patricia Brumfield of Abita Springs, and Pricilla (Joe) Lowe of Franklinton; one uncle, Elder Archie I. Reddix of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton (Sug) Burton and Jerry Lee Brown Burton; his brothers, Johnny Ray (Kemp) Burton, Thomas Ray (Mush) Burton and Andrew Scotty Burton; and two sisters, Sharon Burton Sanders and Jamie Christine Burton.

The visitation will be 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Magee’s Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Supt. Cecealine Tate officiating. The interment will be at Bethel Cemetery.
