Sister Martha Marie Warren (known to so many as “Ms. Mott”) was born as a twin to Mary Harvey Smith on Jan. 18, 1936, in Franklinton, to the late Samuel Miller and Audrey B. Miller.
At the age of 3, the twins were adopted and fostered by Buddy and Estella Harvey. She became a faithful member of Plainview Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. at an early age, and there she accepted Christ as her Savior. Mrs. Mott volunteered to become an usher as a young adult, until her health began to fail. At one point, she served as a manager of The Kitchen at the church, but held her post as a dedicated usher of the Lord.
Martha M. Harvey was united in marriage in 1958 to the late Ezekiel Warren Sr. To this union four children were born, Ezekiel Warren Jr., Shirley M. Warren, Donald R. Warren and Melton C. Warren, all of whom reside in Washington Parish. At the loss of her sister, mother took in her niece and raised her as a daughter, Robin Baker, and a friend of the family that she affectionately calls her “other son,” Brunis Stewart.
She is survived by one brother, Wesley Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezekiel Warren Sr.; her parents; her twin, Mary H. Smith; two sisters, Betsy Miller and Rosia L. Baker; one daughter-in-law, Marchand A. Warren; and four grandchildren, baby Warren, Megan Warren, Markela Warren and Aquantis Warren.
The visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Sweet Home Church with Eld. Washington Drake officiating. The interment will be at Sweet Home Cemetery.
