Melba Gann

Melba Louise Gann, a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 26, 2016, at Our Lady of Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

In Bogalusa, Ms. Melba was a member of the Union Heritage Baptist Church and retired after 43 years as a hairdresser.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Williams and Barry Manuel of Bogalusa; son and daughter-in-law, Dale (Butch) Gann Jr. and Kimberly Spillman Gann of Watson; five grandchildren, Misti Hickman and husband Ray, David Gann, Donald Manuel and wife Stacia, Derek Gann and wife Megan, and Shane Gann; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Gann, Tyler Manuel, Nathan Gann, Riley Hickman, Trace Gann, Halle Percle, and Harper Gann.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otis Dale Gann Sr.; her parents, Luther and Vanda Jones; a brother, Harold Jones; and two sisters, Edna Earl Wood and Edia Merle Harris.

Services were held at Brown-McGehee Inc., 610 Ave. F in Bogalusa, on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, from 9 a.m. through 11 a.m., with services immediately thereafter officiated by Bro. Joseph Porter. Interment followed in Ponemah Cemetary.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to “Union Heritage Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, 20099 Caroline Drive, Bogalusa, LA 70427.”
