Rosia B. Brumfield was born on April 18, 1926, in Magnolia, Miss., to the late Oscar and Mardis Spurlock. She was the fourth child of six children, Leonard, Ruby Lee, Leslie, Odis and L.Z., who all preceded her in death.

At an early age, Rosia B. joined Plainview Church of Christ Holiness. Later, she joined James Chapel C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of the late Rev. Amel Quillen Sr. She was a faithful member of Magee’s Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Superintendent Cecealine Tate as her pastor until her death.

In October 1946, she married in holy matrimony to the late Albert B. Brumfield and this union was blessed with 10 children — the late Jeanette (late Charles) Jackson, the late Gienell (late Calvin) Dyson, Earl K. (Betty) Brumfield, the late Rayfus (Cynthia) Brumfield, Frankie Jean Brumfield, Albert Leon (Tracy Brumfield), Beckadine Brumfield, the late Oscar Lee (Helen) Brumfield, Willis Lavon Brumfield and Billy Earl Brumfield.

Rosia worked at the Vernon School Daycare for many years as a foster grandparent. She dedicated her life to loving, helping and giving to others. She loved quilting, canning preserves, and fishing.

Her favorite scripture was 23rd Psalms. She also loved listening and singing along to gospel music. Her favorite song was “I Won’t Complain.”

Rosia B. leaves to cherish her memories 33 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Three very special sisters-in-law preceded her in death, Willie Mae Blevins Spurlock, Juanita Dyson Spurlock and Elnora Ard Spurlock.

The visitation will be 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Magee’s Temple Church of God in Christ, with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Superintendent Cecealine Tate, pastor, will be officiating the service.
