MCCA royals to be named: Private event is Dec. 31

Captain Don Spiers has announced that the Krewe of MCCA will begin its 37th anniversary season with the revealing of the King and Queen XXXVII and the presentation of the Royal Court at the krewe members’ annual event to be held on New Year’s Eve, Saturday evening, Dec. 31 at the American Legion home. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

The 2017 MCCA theme is City Lights. Floats and costumes will depict favorite cities throughout the world, including New York City, Tijuana, Rio De Janeiro, Rome, New Orleans, Tokyo and many more including Gotham City and Bogalusa.

The MCCA Carnival Krewe has long claimed its 39-float parade and 50,000 spectators to be the largest Mardi Gras event to occur in any city in the world that is similar to the size of Bogalusa.

The MCCA XXXVII parade will be Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at 1 p.m.
