For the second time, Fireman’s Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a community resource fair.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 3, and it will be at the credit union’s offices at 205 Arkansas Ave.
The first fair was held in 2015 at the Northshore Technical Community College. However, Shasta Leininger, chief development officer, said the new offices are larger and allow for the credit union to host the event there. She added that the community resource fair is a chance for the credit union to invite different community organizations and businesses together in a single space and allow residents to mingle and get to know what Bogalusa has to offer.
More than 15 local businesses are expected to show off their products and services to the community.
Those businesses include Firemen’s Federal Credit Union, Northshore Technical Community College, Resthaven Living Center, Nurse-Family Partnership, Washington Community Health Center, Washington Parish Council on Aging, Louisiana Heart Hospital, Our Lady of the Angels Hospital, H&R Block, Office of Public Health Region 9, Bogalusa Grill, Complete Choice Personal Care, Riverside Medical Center, Center of Behavioral Health & Wellness LLC, and Sam’s Club.
In addition to giveaways and refreshments, the event is also a chance for residents to learn about credit reports, as Fireman’s Federal is offering a financial workshop from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. titled, “Solving the Mystery of Credit Reports.” The presentation is hosted by Kathy Breaux, a certified financial coach with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.
There is no cost for the event and it begins at 10 a.m. and is expected to wrap up at 2 p.m.
“We are very excited to host this event to educate residents on the various services that are available to them in the local community,” Leininger said. “Stop by and see us on Jan. 3.”
