Rusty Kevin Stewart 37, of Bogalusa, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Dec. 23 after an uncompromising battle with double hit Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

He was born to Dewitt and Judy Stewart Aug. 26, 1979 in Lake Charles, LA. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 13 years, Summer Seal Stewart; two sons, Daylon Scout and Sawyer Ford Sandifer; two brothers, Casey and Patrick Stewart; Father-in-law Elmo and Joy Seal; Brother and Sister-in-law, Larry and Kimber Mixon; Nieces Baylee and Savannah Mixon; numerous special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dewitt Stewart; maternal grandmother, Margaret Alford; and paternal grandparents, Talmage and Estelle Stewart.

Rusty graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1997 and the Sullivan Technical Institute in 2000 with a degree in Industrial Machinery. He went to work at the International Paper Box Plant and was currently employed at the United Parcel Service. Rusty also owned his own lawn care service. He was a member of the Chapter 31 International Harvester Collector Club.

Rusty attended Superior Avenue Baptist Church. He was a kind and gentle person who enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Tractors were one of his interests. He loved to go on vacation, always planning a vacation. He loved Disney World, the Smokey Mountains, and the beach as long as he was with his family. If you knew Rusty, you loved him. He was a phenomenal husband, father, and friend. He took excellent care of his family and friends. During his two-year battle with lymphoma, this was evident as the return of care he received from family and friends through Team Stewart.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Superior Avenue Baptist Church on Dec. 27, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. Rev. Clay Norwood to officiate. Internment will follow at the Alvin Burt Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dusty Stewart, Randy Stewart, Matt Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Will Galloway, and Mike Wells.
