Michelle Re’nee Burnett was born in Slidell on June 6, 1969, to the late Cloyd Joseph Burnett and Letha P. Brent. Michelle attended Bogalusa High School in Bogalusa, where she graduated. Michelle didn’t meet any strangers, she would make you laugh and cry, and she would help anybody that needed help. She was a faithful member of New Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Michelle loved music — her favorite song was “Purple Rain” by Prince. She also enjoyed being around family and friends.

Michelle took her transition on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton.

Michelle leaves to celebrate, rejoice and mourn her transition: Tracy Mingo; four children, Faizah Burnett, Lakence Burnett, Tracy Burnett and Valuane Bullock; a godchild, Miniya Bell; three sisters, Tamiko (Orlando) Lundie, Lakeishere Crumedy and Sandra Bradley Levi; her stepfather, H.B. Brent; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, family and friends; a special friend, James Butler; and a special nurse, Barbare Williams.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home chapel in the Bogalusa branch. Viewing will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Christopher Matthews will be officiating, and interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
