Lendsey Norman

At age 69, on Nov. 24, 2016, Lendsey Leroy Norman entered into eternal rest in Franklinton, at about 8 p.m.

Lendsey was born Nov. 29, 1946, to Cornelius Norman and Mae Belle Norman Burkhalter. Lendsey was a chef by profession who loved music and played both the trombone and the guitar.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mae Belle Burkhalter; his father, Cornelius Norman; his stepfather, Willie Burkhalter; one sister, Judy Antronette Burkhalter; three brothers, Michael Allen Norman, Jesse Lawrence Norman and David Iley Norman; one step-sister, Dorothy Briggs; and one nephew, Demeku Norman.

He leaves his most precious blessings: his son, Vernon Walker; his daughter, April Mae Remey; two brothers, Nyewusi Askari of Portland, Ore., and Edward Norman of Mt. Hermon; four sisters, Ola Magee and Delores Norman of Franklinton; Katherine Gibbs of Bogalusa, and Willie Tamme Burkhalter of Dallas, Texas; five step-brothers, Western Burkhalter of Kentwood, Willie Burkhalter of Los Angeles, Calif., Leroy Burkhalter of Franklinton, Curtis Burkhalter of Roseland, and Allen Burkhalter of Mt. Hermon; four step-sisters, Augustine White of Dayton, Ohio, Georgia Bickham of Franklinton, Carol J. Bell of Fort Benning, Ga., and Gwenda Dyson of Los Angeles; two grandchildren, Kelsey Adrianne Walker and Jericho Addison Duncan; two great-grandchildren, Kaylani Walker and Armani Love Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives, and friends. Leroy will be deeply missed, but always remembered and loved by those who knew him.

The visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 10 a.m., with pastor Antoine Graves officiating. The interment will be held at Union Chapel cemetery.
