On Monday, members of the Central High School Class of 1968 presented two full boxes of holiday food to two senior citizens as part of their second annual Thanksgiving giveaway.

Geraldine Robinson, the vice-president for the alumni group, said she is a retired employee of the Council on Aging, the organization that runs the senior citizens centers in Bogalusa and Franklinton, and she wanted to do something for the seniors who use the centers.

The donations include a ham and a turkey, in addition to canned foods, pastas, soups and more. They were collected from among 20 Central High School seniors.

Each center chooses a senior citizen randomly. Mattie Wallace was the recipient in Bogalusa and Dolores A. Moore was the Franklinton recipient.

Both women were on hand in Bogalusa to receive the donations.

Pastor Darlene A. Moore, the daughter of Dolores A. Moore, said she was thankful for the gesture.

“They enjoy going to the center,” said Moore, of her parents. “It provides fellowship, food and fun activities.”

Robinson said she and class of 1968 president Lloyd Meekins wanted to thank Council on Aging director Nancy McBeth, Sybil Young and Shirley Cooper for partnering with her group.
