Milton Short

Milton Jerome Short passed away on Oct. 20, 2016, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans.
Jerome was born Jan. 19, 1945, in Bogalusa, to the late Tom and Elnora (Fields) Short. He attended school in the Bogalusa School System. Jerome was a graduate of Central Memorial High School’s class of 1964.
Upon graduating, he began to work in Slidell, for Sherwin Williams paint factory for several years until he gained employment at Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill for 28 years, until his retirement due to illness.
He leaves to mourn: his soulmate and dedicated wife, Georgia Lee Randolph Short; four sons, Jerome (Donna) Graves, Roy Short of Bogalusa, Duane (Bianca) Short of Bogalusa, and Barden Short of San Diego, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Jeronica, Jalen, Jakeithon, Zion, Xavion, Tristan, Olivia, Trey, Zanara and Braden; one great-grandchild, Janiya; two brothers, Willie (Pamela) Short of Alexandria and Donald (Charlotte) Short of Reserve; four sisters, Sadie Tate of Bogalusa, Annie Smith of Slidell, Adrean Graves (Raymond) Batiste, and Dr. M. Denese Bridges of New Orleans; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Public viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 28, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home on Columbia Street in Bogalusa. The family hour will be held at 6 p.m. at New Triumph Baptist Church on Sullivan Drive in Bogalusa. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 29, at Greater Salter Chapel A.M.E. Church, located at 920 Dan St. in Bogalusa, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be at Duffy Cemetery in Lee’s Creek.
