Edwina Jacobs

“I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).

The sweet angel of mercy moved in quietly on Oct. 13, 2016, and bore the spirit of Edwina Jacobs at the age of 65 at the Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe.

Edwina leaves to honor her memory: her husband, Alvin C. Jacobs Sr. of Rockford, Ill.; one son, Kevin (Stacey) Jacobs of Fort Myers, Fla.; one daughter, Andreia Nelson of Bogalusa; four sisters, Lynette Smith of Bogalusa, Missionary Mae (Deacon Johnny Sr.) Brown and Hazel (Fred) Crain of Franklinton, and Eloise Tate of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Jessie Smith of Washington, D.C., Oliver (Jo Ann) Gutter of Pontiac, Mich., and Darren Dixon of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Travonne Nowling and Omisha Thirst of Bogalusa, Gerald Jerome Nelson Jr. of Baton Rouge, Brookelynne Jacobs of Fort Myers, and LaDamion Sowell of Baton Rouge; three great-grandchildren, Germany and Germani Nelson of Baton Rouge, and Lacey Sowell of Baton Rouge; one aunt, Mae Smith of Milwaukee, Wis.; one godson, Lyric Spikes of Bogalusa; and a special friend, John Foster of Bogalusa, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: Idella Hardy, who raised her; her mother, Lula Mae Smith; her father, Scott Tyrone; two sisters, Judy McDowell and LeDora Jefferson; and one brother, David Welton Mingo.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 21, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., following by the family hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eddie Braziel officiating.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements. Interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
