James Simmons

James E. Simmons, 93, passed away Oct. 5, 2016, at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa. He was a resident of Franklinton, member of Light House Pentecostal Church, and U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II.

He is survived by: one son, James Edward “Joe” Simmons of Franklinton; two daughters, Jean Carolyn Simmons Warren of Sheridan and Joyce Elizabeth Simmons Creel of Bogalusa; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by: his wife, Juanita Simmons; parents, L.T. and Annie Simmons; brothers, Ezra Jodie Simmons, Estus Pete Simmons, Noha Lloyd Simmons and George Simmons; and sisters, Ethel Simmons Hinnesey and Fannie Lee Simmons Foil.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8:30 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Simmons Lang Cemetery at Sheridan. The Rev. Charles Ray Creel and the Rev. Darryl Hargraves will officiate.
