A Bogalusa woman was taken into custody Friday afternoon, after allegedly running over her boyfriend with a car.

According to Bogalusa’s interim police chief Gene Crosby, at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Peggy Roberts Mezquite, 31, of Bogalusa, struck her boyfriend near the intersection of Mississippi Drive and Masonic Drive.

“It was a domestic problem between a boyfriend and girlfriend,” Crosby said.

Crosby said the victim was walking when the woman struck him. According to the police report, the victim was taken to Our Lady of the Angels Hospital for treatment but was then airlifted to another hospital.

“He was bleeding from the head,” Crosby said.

Mezquite was arrested and the car was towed. She was charged with driving under a suspended license, no insurance, no license and aggravated second-degree battery, which is a felony.
