Hiram Hunter

Hiram Dalton Hunter, affectionately known as “Junior,” left this world on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1985 in Independence. He later moved to Bogalusa, where he joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at an early age. There he was a member of Sunday School, Drill Team, Junior Usher Board and the Youth Choir.

He was a 2003 honor graduate of Bogalusa High School. While attending high school he was a student-athlete who excelled at baseball and football for the Lumberjacks. After graduation, he attended Northwestern State University before graduating from Grambling State University with a degree in criminal justice in 2008. He later moved to Baton Rouge and was employed with Florida Parishes Detention Center in Robert. He was employed with the Bogalusa City Police Department.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving parents, David and Paria Jackson of Bogalusa, and Hiram Dalton of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Travis Hunter (Shronda) of Denham Springs, Marcus Dalton and Jamal Dalton, both of San Antonio; one niece, Sydney Hunter of Denham Springs; six aunts, Youlanda Hunter (Albert) of Baton Rouge, Sonuya Mearidy (Felix) of Tangipahoa, Mary Dalton Lee (Andrew) of New Orleans, Julia Jackson and Janice Jackson of New Orleans, and Grace Elaine Jackson of Bogalusa; five uncles, Micheal Hunter of Long Beach, Calif., Tony Trask (Cassandra) of Baton Rouge, Henry Trask of Amite, Calvin Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., and LeRoy Jackson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; along with a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edna Mae Hunter and Jimmy Fleming; his paternal grandmothers, Pinkie Trask Dalton and Eula Mae Clark; and his cousin, Byronee’ “Nu-Nu” Jackson.

The celebration of life service will be Saturday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, located at 841 E. 6th St. in Bogalusa. Interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Cook-Richmond Funeral Home.
