Fred Bennett

Fred W. Bennett Sr., 88, born on Feb. 9, 1928, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at his home in Bogalusa.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a life member of the Magic City American Legion Post #24, the VFW and 40 & 8. He retired after 30 years from Bell South and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Roussell Bennett of Bogalusa; three daughters, Ramona Augustine of Bogalusa, Rebecca “Becky” Robert (Lynn) of Gonzales, and Regina Folse (Jeff) of Baton Rouge; one son, Fred W. Bennett Jr. of Slidell; grandchildren, Tamara Augustine, Danny Augustune, Sheree McAllister, Chief WO2 Louis Robert, Matthew Robert, Brandi Slade, Bradley Folse, Kristina Sevin, Heather Bennett, Brittany Bennett, Amber Bennett and April Bennett; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Archie R. Bennett; his parents, Ran Dolph Bennett and Dosha Lewis Bennett; and a son-in-law, Danny Augustine.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be begin at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Belknap officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery with full military graveside services by the Magic City American Legion Post #24 and the U.S. Army National Guard.
