William Jenkins

William Ottis Jenkins, 76, a resident of Pine, died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2016 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

He was a longtime member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church, who enjoyed playing and listening to music. Ottis was a well-known auto mechanic and tractor mechanic to his family, friends and community. He enjoyed raising his chickens and loved gardening.

Ottis cherished the time spent with his large family and had a special friendship with his pet dog Lady.

He is survived by: four children and spouses, Wendell and Donna Jenkins of Denham Springs, Wanda Bordelon of Pearl River, Sheryl and Mark Foraker of Denham Springs, and William Ottis “B.J.” Jenkins II and Tena Jenkins of Pine; five step-children and spouses, Wayne and April Sheridan of Pine, Georgia and Randy Shomake of Mississippi, Melissa and Robert Jenkins of Franklinton, Kendall and Rhonda Sheridan of Pine, and Shelly Carnegie of Mt. Hermon; 23 grandchildren and spouses; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carlos Jenkins and Clayton Jenkins, both of Pine; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and LaTroy Sharp of Lee Road, and Judy and Kenneth Duncan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Shirley Jean Miller Jenkins; his parents, Van Jenkins and Audrey Nobles Jenkins; a brother, Elton Jenkins; two sisters, Mildred Creel and Verlia Mae Miller; and two step-children, Brenda Sue Sheridan and Lloyd Sheridan.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Friday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Billy Reire officiating. Burial will follow in the Van Jenkins Family Cemetery.
