Joe Nathan Fields transitioned Aug. 30, 2016, in Dallas, Texas.

He was born Jan. 28, 1953, to the union of the late Robert Fields and Inez Nathaniel Fields in Bogalusa.

He is survived by: his son, Jonathan Fields Jr. (Christina); Le’Asia Fields, whom he loved as a daughter; five grandchildren, Jenea Smoot, Ja’Quintas Smoot, Ja’Christya Fields, Keenan Fields and Michael Burton; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Minister Betty Fields of Varnado, Alicia Fields Lewis (Joel), and Melvin Fields of Bogalusa, Eleanor Kim (Steve) Banks of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Velma Renell Fields of Baton Rouge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Inez Fields; three sisters, Barbara Ann, Marcel and Mary Louise Fields Foster; two brothers, Robert Lionel Fields Sr. and Arcel Fields.

He is also survived by one aunt, Louvenia Nathaniel Gage of Houston, Texas, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Repast and a gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m., at 1139 E. Sixth St. in Bogalusa.
