Evie Ard

Evie Corine Seals Ard, 99, a resident of the Hilltop community, passed from this life to her eternal home on Sept. 15, 2016, in her home surrounded by her family.
Evie was born on June 5, 1917, and was a charter member of Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church in Pine. She worked for many years, along with her late husband, Cecil, as a farmer and specifically as a dairy farmer. She also worked several years as an independent Avon distributor.
Evie loved the outdoors, working with her animals, planting beautiful flowers and growing vegetables in her garden. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of the Pine Community. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family.
Evie is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Linda Ard, and Charles Ray and Ann Ard, all of the Hilltop community; one daughter, Patricia Ard Seals of the Hilltop community; grandchildren and spouses, Bruce and Vivian Ard, Timothy “Tim” Ard, Shelton and Angela Ard, Jonathan Ard, Cody Richard Ard, Scotty and Stefanie Rogers, Sander and Stacey Thomas, Shane and Bridgett Ard, Justin and Suzanna Stafford, Trent and Brittneii Thomas, Taylor Dillon, Faith Dillon, Richie and Jennifer Jarrell, Phillip Jarrell, and Charles Horace “Hunter” Seals; 13 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Cecil Ard; her parents, Fletcher Eugene Seals and Cynthia Elizabeth Williams Seals; three sisters, Athalee Seals Tynes, Bessie Ree Seals Ard and Ruby Jane Seals Forbes; and two brothers, Leonard Seals and Clifford Seals.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation continued at Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral service was held in the church at 1 p.m. Monday with Elder Mark Hobgood, Elder Everette Broome, Elder Duane Ball and Elder Clyde Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
