At 11 p.m. Sunday, Rusty Gore was arrested by state police after he allegedly stole a vehicle from his employer, smashed into another vehicle and tried to speed down the highway.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop L Spokesperson Dustin Dwight, Gore’s employer — whom Dwight did not name — watched Gore steal a work truck and then drive down Louisiana Highway 450 and turn onto Louisiana Highway 10.

“Mr. Gore travelled off the roadway and into the path of an earthbound vehicle on Louisiana 10, struck that vehicle, and continued on,” Dwight said.

A child was taken to the hospital as a result of the collision, though Dwight said he did not know the extent of the child’s injuries.

Dwight said that “eventually” Gore was pulled over by state troopers.

Gore was charged with driving while intoxicated-first offense, careless operation, hit and run, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
