Jim Morgan, the 2015 Franklinton Citizen of the Year, will be publicly honored Sunday afternoon.

The ceremony will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Franklinton, located at 950 Self St. The public is invited.

Morgan was selected for the honor earlier this month, after a vote of past Franklinton Citizens of the Year.

He is a member of First Baptist Church in Franklinton, where he serves on the Board of Deacons, as well as several committees. He is also involved with the Washington Parish Fair Association, and donates his time to helping local youth and school sports programs.

Rod Sabiston, the 2014 Franklinton Citizen of the Year, will serve as the master of ceremonies at Sunday’s event.

James Morgan will provide the invocation, and Linda Crain will recognize past recipients and other special guests. Marsha Newman will read the nomination, and Justin Morgan and the Rev. Paul Watts will have testimonials.

Jesse Wright, the managing editor of The Daily News, will present Jim Morgan with the “Distinguished Service Award” and a special gift, and Franklinton Mayor Wayne Fleming will present Morgan with a key to the city.

After Morgan offers remarks of acceptance, Richard Morgan will say the benediction.
