The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office released a press release Friday morning considering the recent rainfall:

“The administrative divisions of the Sheriff’s Office are closed all day due to high water. Washington Parish schools are closed, as well.

“Water is across the roadways of the parish in all low-lying areas. It is recommended not to drive unless necessary. Slow down and watch for water.

“Rivers and creeks are currently expected to rise at least until morning.”

Sandbags are available at the Washington Parish Department of Public Works at Location 3, Pearl Street one block off of Main Street in Franklinton; or at Fire District 7 on Bill Booty Road.
