Franklinton police arrest Mississippi man for first-degree rape of juvenile

On July 8, Franklinton Police Sergeant James Folks was assigned an alleged sexual battery and rape case involving a juvenile.

Subsequent to the investigation, Sergeant Folks interviewed Christopher Dickerson, an 18 year-old from Tylertown, Mississippi. During the course of the interview, Dickerson allegedly provided a voluntary statement in which he implicated himself in the commission of the aforementioned crimes. Consequently, Sergeant Folks arrested Dickerson for first-degree rape and sexual battery. First-degree rape carries a possible sentence of life imprisonment or the death penalty. Dickerson was booked into the Washington Parish Jail at the conclusion of the investigation.  The juvenile victim has been referred to Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Advocacy Center where mental health services will be provided.
