Washington Parish Deputies are investigating a murder that happened sometime Tuesday night or Wednesday morning on Shorty Bush Road. As of noon Wednesday, few details have been made public, but Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office has released the following statement:

“The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a pre-dawn murder south of Bogalusa.  The investigation is preliminary.  No names or details are being released at this time so as not to jeopardize the investigation.  When appropriate, I will issue a formal media release.

“Some media personnel have contacted me concerning rumors that (1) there was more than one murder victim.  There was not.  Only a single victim. Also, (2) the murder was videotaped.  It was not.”
