Phill Barnes

The heavens opened wide on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, welcoming Phill Kenneth (PK) Barnes.

Phill (PK) was born in Franklinton to the late Marvin and Julia Watson Barnes. He was baptized and joined Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness at an early age. He graduated from Washington Parish High School and joined the United States Airforce.

Phill (PK) served his country for over 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at the local family owned business called Quality Cleaners. He united in Holy matrimony to Louise Ginn-Barnes on Dec. 26, 1977, and to this union a blended loving family was created.

Phill (PK) was preceded in his death by his parents, Marvin and Julia Watson-Barnes; step-son, Walter Fowler; and siblings, Billy Barnes, Dorothy Cornist, Mary Gail Barnes-Gethers and Jim Barnes.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Louise Ginn-Barnes; daughter, Patrice K. Barnes; step-children, Toney Fowler (Vanessa), Coleman Fowler, Sandra Fowler, and Coleatha Fowler-Walker (Ronald); two sisters, Marvine Branham and Mona (Ed) Anderson; two brothers, John Barnes and Bobby Barnes; 14 grandchildren. E’lexus Warren, Jordan Barnes, Kelly Daniels Jr, Joshua Hart Jr, Riberto Lopez, Chandler Whitfield, Jase Walker, John Hewitt, Deja Bickham, Dy’Quon Bradley, Andrea T Magee, Christopher Fowler, Victoria Alexius and Torey Peters; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness USA with Elder Washington Drake, pastor, officiating. Internment will be in Sweet Home Cemetery.
