Leon Brumfield

Leon Michael “Slick” Brumfield was born on May 26, 1952, in Bogalusa, to Maudessie Mathews Brumfield and the late Deacon John Wesley Brumfield.

Leon Brumfield was called home to live with God on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Our Lady of Angels Hospital.

At an early age, Leon joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his death. He graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1970 and attended Grambling State and Southern University. He loved God and his family. He was always available to help his sister attend to his mother’s needs. He will be truly missed by his brothers and devoted sister.

He was preceded in death by his father, Deacon John W. Brumfield; and grandparents, John Brumfield Sr. and Alice Grumlin.

To cherish his memories, he leaves one son, Brian (Kolynda) Parker; two grandchildren, Brian Jr. and Brianne Parker of Geismar; four brothers, John Wesley (Geraldine) Brumfield of Shreveport, Victor (Betty) Brumfield, Don (Erica) Brumfield and Gregory (Eloise) Brumfield; and one devoted sister, Ella B. (Ezikel) Dupard, all of Bogalusa; four nephews, John Brumfield Jr. of Shreveport, Shaderick Brumfield of Slidell, Rashard Dupard of River Ridge, and Trenton Dupard of Bogalusa; five nieces, Tonya Ratliff of Hammond, Evette Mayhem of Missouri, Brandy and Brittney Brumfield of Baton Rouge, and Patrice Brumfield of Bogalusa; and a host of cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, located at 837 E. 7th St. in Bogalusa, at 11 a.m., with pastor Christopher Matthews officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
