Mr. Larry Donnell Stewart was born Oct. 27, 1951, to the late Mylee M. Stewart and the late Robert “Bob” Magee. He was also reared by a stepfather, the late Shelly Stewart. He lost his battle to cancer and transitioned on July 21, 2016.

At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, USA. Larry attended Washington Parish High School. He was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy E. Gatlin, in November 1972. This union was blessed with three sons.

He began his career working with his dad tying steel. His sons most remember the excitement of driving across the Causeway Bridge and being told that their grandfather and dad helped to build the bridge. He later trained to become a carpenter, and would often be seen building doghouses in front of his house with his friends.

His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his sons, Dr. Delarious O. Stewart of Franklinton, Kendric D. (Kiera) Stewart of Franklinton, Bernis L. (Marie) Stewart of Kenosha, Wisc.; one step daughter, Yumeka Stewart Ard; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Doris (Lenward) Thompson of Franklinton, Cynthia Stewart of Los Angeles, Calif., and Janet Warren; one brother, William “Buster” Stewart; two sisters-in-law, Mary Stewart and Ruby Stewart; one goddaughter, Pansy Simmons; his crew, Derek “Goofy” Gatlin, Robin “Woman” Baker, Rodney “Rigger” Thompson and all of the children on 13th Avenue; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Claude Stewart, Clarence Stewart, Earl Stewart, Fred “Buckskin” Stewart, Troy Stewart, Denmon “Dent” Stewart, LeRoy Stewart and Ollie Magee; and two sisters, Shirley Stewart and Myrtis Lee Magee.
