Four people have qualified to represent District D on the Bogalusa City Council.

The brief window for qualification opened on Wednesday and then closed Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The four candidates are Scott Ard, Warren Bolds Jr., Brian “Bambi” Mizell and Stacey M. Tallitsch.

The winner will replace Andy Deleon, who was an interim replacement for Malinda White. White was elected in 2015 to the state House of Representatives.

Mayor Wendy Perrette explained that Deleon cannot run for the seat this year.

“Interim people are not allowed to run by city charter,” she said.

However, the mayor praised Deleon’s time on the board.

“Mr. Deleon’s been a pleasure to work with,” she said. “I’ve worked with him in the past and I’m sure that whoever comes from that district will work to move our city forward.”
