RMC to host ‘After Hours’

Riverside Medical Center will host a Franklinton Chamber of Commerce “After Hours” event on Tuesday.

Kristina Knight, the community outreach director for the hospital, said Tuesday’s informal meet and greet will be the first time the hospital has sponsored an after hours event, though the chamber has been organizing them for some time.

The event is a chance for members in the business community to come together after work and talk casually about community and business issues.

“We thought this would be a great idea to get business people together and network and also talk about the services we provide,” Knight said. “And also we’re bringing our nurse practitioners to the event so they can meet people.”

The after hours event will be held in the lobby and it will feature light snacks. The kickoff is 5 p.m. and it is expected to wrap up at 6:30 p.m.

“It’s an event to bring people together and meet new people and find people with common interest. It’s just a chance for people to share ideas,” she said.

Besides the after work gathering, Riverside will also be hosting a blood drive earlier that same day. Knight said the drive is particularly important because summer months are usually slow for donations, so supplies can run low.

“It’s notorious for having shortages on the summertime because people are on vacation and so they don’t schedule blood donations,” she said.

The blood drive is being held with the Blood Center and it will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Riverside.

RMC is located at 1900 Main St. in Franklinton.
