The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify at least four male suspects who recently attempted to break into a fireworks stand located on West 10th Street in Bogalusa.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday, July 4, the would-be burglars were attempting to break into the business when they noticed a video surveillance camera. At that time, they broke the camera loose from the building, but it was too late. Their images had already been captured and stored on the recording equipment inside the business.

WPSO Detective Lt. Tom Anderson asks any person who may be able to identify one or more of the burglars to please contact his office at 985-661-2021 during normal business hours or 985-839-3434 at any time.

“We are anxious to identify these young men,” Anderson said. “Our intervention may be a turning point in their lives and we would certainly like to prevent them from becoming involved in other criminal activity.”

Sheriff Randy Seal echoed Lt. Anderson’s remarks.

“Although it is very difficult to imagine young men being on the streets unsupervised at this time of the morning, it is a reality,” he said. “Too many of our parish young people do not have adequate adult supervision. Parents, please know where your children are at all times and guide them to constructive activities that build character, not criminal records.

“Parents, guardians and other responsible adults must not only serve as positive role models but also be good monitors of all that their children are doing.”
