If the sun keeps shining, Bogalusa Public Works Director James Hall said Rio Grande Street could be open for traffic by the end of the day Thursday.

Work crews were paving the road all morning long, and by noon Hall said he expects half the road to be open. He hopes the rest won’t be far behind.

“The possibility is, weather permitting, it could be open by this afternoon,” he said.

Striping could take more time.
