Mildred Spikes Peters

Sis. Mildred Weary Spikes Peters was born on Sept. 1, 1934, to the parentage of the late Edna Elzy Peters and Henry Crumedy. She was adopted by the late Oscar and Mamie Weary.
Sis. Mildred joined Mt. Zion M.B. Church at an early age and remained a faithful servant there until her health failed her. She served in several capacities in the church and was president of the senior choir for 29 years.
Sis. Mildred was educated at Wesley Ray High School and continued her education at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge. She taught school in the Washington Parish School System for 40 years.
Visitation will be at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Friday, May 27, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Varnado from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The funeral will be at Mt. Zion M.B. Church on Saturday, May 28, at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Lesley McKinley will officiate and there will be a triumphant message by Bishop Norman J. Hairston III.
