Edwin Simmons

Edwin “Lightning” Simmons, born May 15, 1954, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2016, at the age of 62.
He was an employee for the city of Bogalusa with 35 years of service and also worked for The Bogalusa Daily News and the Washington Parish District Attorney’s Office. He served as assistant advisor for Venture Crew 785 B.S.A. for five years, and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Rose Alfonso Simmons of Bogalusa; a son, Steven Isaac Simmons of Bogalusa; a brother, James Earl Simmons of Varnado; a half sister, Sharon Kaye Manzellie of Kenner; and other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esco Simmons and Audrey Holmes; and grandparents, C.R. and Freddie Mae Ronning.
Visitation was held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Thursday, May 19, beginning at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and resumed Friday, May 20, after 8 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m. The Rev. Joe Rozelle officiated the services with the interment following in the Pounds Cemetery.
