Thomas Melvin Adams, 86, a resident of Isabel died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday May 11, 2016, at his son’s home.

He was a former truck driver for many years with Smith and Smith, Inc., in Franklinton and a member of True Light Baptist Church who enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Melvin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed bird watching and listening to gospel music and going to gospel concerts. Melvin adored his family and loved spending quality time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by: his wife, Clara Jones Adams of Isabel; stepson and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Debbie McNeese of Isabel; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Terri and Chad Manning of Franklinton; five grandchildren and spouses, Heath McNeese, Kristen and Wade Fitzsimons, Joshua McNeese, Brandon and Ashley Manning, and Kasey Manning; great-granddaughter, Nicole Claire Manning; brother, Curtis Adams of Isabel; sister, Yvonne Williams of Isabel; and also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeaneé Nicole Adams; his mother, Alice Glass Adams; father and stepmother, Otis Adams and Frances Baham Adams; two brothers, Larry Adams and Lawrence Adams; and a sister, Shirley McCarthy.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, May 13, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chris Wheeler and the Rev. Billy Gill officiating.  Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery.
