The Sink the Putt/Float the boat Golf Tournament took place last Saturday to help the Venturer Scouts from Bogalusa Crew 313 and Bush Crew 213 fund their canoe trip in Arkansas.

The 50th annual White River Canoe Race takes place July 27-30 and it goes from Bull Shoals, Ark. to Batesville, Ark.

This year’s golf tournament brought in seven teams, totaling 14 golfers.

“Even though we didn’t have the number of golfers we were hoping for, we were pleased with the turnout we had,” Col. Bobby Miller said. “The purpose of the golf tournament is to raise funds to send the canoers to the national race and we acheived that goal. We also thankful to our sponsors and those individuals who contributed to the fundraising.”

The team of F.W. Rebstock/Ralph Ferguson captured the event at the Bogalusa Country Club after shooting a 63, as the competition was close. The team of Michael Melancon/Joey Melancon were just a stroke behind to finish second in the fifth annual event.
