Gladys Pierce

Gladys Beatrice Crockett Pierce, 87, a lifelong resident of her family’s homestead near Pine died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday May 4, 2016, at Riverside Medical Center.

She was a longtime member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church who enjoyed caring for her plants and cooking. Through the years, Gladys loved tending her garden and caring for her farm animals. She also for many years provided child care to numerous families in the area. Gladys was always a loving mother and grandmother that cherished the time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Pierce is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sarah Pierce of Franklin, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Michael Pierce and Katie Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C.O. Crockett and Rovilla Rogers Crockett; and a brother and sister-in-law, Thelton and Vernell Crockett.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Darren Uzell officiating.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the Mom-4-A-Day assisted living service and her caregivers Cathy Causey, Janez Johnson, and Sheree Magee for their loving support through the years, and also to the Washington Parish Council on Aging and Excel Home Health for their caring support.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.
