Some members of the Franklinton High School Class of 1956 attended the 60th anniversary celebration on Saturday, April 23 at Bo’s Restaurant near Clifton.

Class president Richard Passman welcomed everyone to the event and also read greetings from several who could not attend.

“We were seniors in 1956 and we are seniors now,” Passman quipped, referring to the ages of class members. He also read a long list of those who have died, remembering them as members of the class. He also noted the names of several who were unable to attend because of illness.

He said there was approximately 50 still living who were either class members or who attended school with the class at some time who were eligible to attend the reunion. He gave each one attending the opportunity to tell about themselves and their families. The class has been holding a reunion every five years, but when the subject was brought up, it was noted in two years class members would be approaching 80. It was left up to the reunion committee to decide.

Following remarks, Dr. George Haile, gave the blessing for the meal and everyone enjoyed a seafood lunch and a time of fellowship.

Those attending included: Richard and Nena Passman, Edith (Mulina) and Pete Busby, Charles and Rachel Lanford, Roy and Bobbie Stevens, Janella Varnado Condalary, Frances Bickham Payne,  Gay (Wood) and George Haile, Marcia Ann Miller Bickham, Larry and Dorothy Stringer, Birtieree Miller Schilling, Darryl and Annwood Jenkins, Freda Sylvest Welch and guest, Lynn Welch Morgan; Gloria Husser Ginn and guest, Pat Richardson Denman; Barbara Lang Breland, Nathan Wallace and Mary Busby Parsley, who provided the table decorations.
